The political situation in Zimbabwe has been tense for some time owing to the issue of the successor to President Mugabe. As of this morning, 15 November, the army has now temporarily taken control of the country. The current developments are also being covered in the Swiss media.

Newlands Clinic operates normally

The situation in the capital, Harare, is calm at present, and Newlands Clinic is operating normally. Our clinic is located in a quiet residential area outside the centre of Harare, and the events have thus far had no impact there.

However, we remain in close contact with the local offices of the SDC and the Swiss Embassy in Harare, and are monitoring the situation as it develops. The security and safety of our staff and patients is naturally our top priority. We will keep you up to date if there are any changes in the situation.
